Introduction

The U.S. Solid Stainless Steel Magnetic Drive Pump features a sealless, magnetically coupled design that transfers compatible liquids without a conventional mechanical shaft seal. The pump features a stainless steel pump head, an aluminum alloy motor housing, food-grade PPS wetted components, and FKM O-rings for reliable sealing and chemical resistance.

The 110 V single-phase capacitor motor supports 50/60 Hz operation, providing a maximum flow of up to 8.4 GPM and a maximum head of up to 14.1 ft at 60 Hz.

Installation

Mount the pump horizontally on a firm, level surface, as close to and below the liquid source as possible. Keep the inlet line short, direct, and airtight; fill the pump chamber and inlet line with compatible liquid before starting. 

This is not a self-priming pump. Self-priming / Suction-lift installation is not recommended.

Warning

Do not run the pump dry. Before start-up, completely fill the pump chamber and inlet line with compatible liquid and remove trapped air.

Do not block the outlet or restrict the inlet. Keep the inlet short and direct, support piping independently, and maintain a continuous liquid supply.

Use only compatible liquids. Do not use with highly viscous liquids, slurries, solids, ferrous-metal fines, or liquids not confirmed compatible with the wetted materials.

For process-liquid applications: Maximum liquid temperature is 248°F (120°C). Use an external inlet filter to keep pulp, grain, hop debris, sediment, and other solids out of the pump; clean the filter as needed to maintain flow.

Electrical and magnetic safety: Verify voltage and grounding before connecting power. Magnetic-drive components may affect certain implanted medical devices; seek medical advice before handling the pump if this applies.

FAQ

1. Is this pump self-priming?

No. This pump is not self-priming. A suction-lift setup with a check valve and a fully filled inlet line may be used only when necessary, but it is not recommended. 

2. Can the pump run dry?

No. Never run the pump dry. Stop the pump immediately if it loses liquid supply or flow. Dry running can cause rapid heating and damage the pump.

3. What liquids can this pump handle?

Use the pump only with clean liquids confirmed compatible with the stainless steel, food-grade PPS, FKM, and alumina ceramic wetted materials. Do not pump solids, slurries, highly viscous liquids, ferrous particles, fuels, or other unsuitable liquids.

4. How does performance change between 50 Hz and 60 Hz?

At 50 Hz, the maximum flow is 7.13 GPM and the maximum head is 10.17 ft. At 60 Hz, the maximum flow is 8.45 GPM and the maximum head is 14.10 ft. Actual performance varies with piping, liquid properties, and system resistance.

5. What should I check before first start-up?

Verify the supply voltage and grounding, confirm the pump is securely mounted, check all piping connections, fill the pump and inlet with compatible liquid, remove trapped air, and make sure the outlet path is open before starting.

6. What parts may require periodic replacement?

The FKM O-ring is the component most likely to require replacement as it ages. Other internal pump-head components, including the impeller, containment shell, are not normally considered routine replacement items, but they should be inspected during maintenance and replaced if worn, damaged, or affected by the pumped liquid.

7. Can I replace the O-ring myself?

The pump head is serviceable. Before inspection or replacement, disconnect power, allow the pump to cool, drain the liquid, and relieve all system pressure. Use the correct FKM O-ring and make sure it is seated evenly during reassembly. Do not disassemble the motor or magnetic-drive section. Contact service if leakage continues after reassembly.

8. Can this pump handle strong acids or alkalis?

No. Do not use this pump with strong acids or strong alkalis. These liquids may damage the stainless steel pump head and other wetted components. For other chemical liquids, confirm compatibility at the actual concentration and temperature before use.
