Quality
Quality costs less than cheap in the long run. We've got a lot of hoses and were using hose fittings from China made from aluminum that ******. So I made sure to get brass fittings - that ******, they came from China and were paper thin. A diligent internet search turned up US Solid. I'm happy with these, but would happily pay more if they were a bit heavier.
