Introduction
The U.S. Solid 1 HP Shallow Well Jet Pump is designed for shallow-well water supply applications where the vertical distance from the pump to the water level is no more than 25 ft.
At 40 PSI discharge pressure, the pump delivers up to 26 GPM with a 0 ft. suction lift. A factory-installed 30/50 PSI automatic pressure switch starts and stops the pump according to system pressure, making it suitable for residential water systems, pressure-tank installations, irrigation, sprinkler systems, and other clear-water applications.
The single-phase motor supports 115 V and 230 V, 60 Hz operation and is factory prewired for 115 V.

Warning
1. Always verify that the motor voltage setting matches the power supply before connecting power. Never connect a 230 V power supply while the motor is configured for 115 V. Incorrect voltage may damage the motor and create a fire or electrical hazard.
2. Do not run the pump dry. The pump housing and suction piping must be completely filled with water before the pump is started.
3. Never operate the pump against a closed discharge. Doing so may cause water inside the pump to overheat or boil, creating hazardous pressure that could result in equipment damage, explosion, or serious scalding injury.
FAQ
1. What type of well is this pump designed for?
This pump is designed for shallow-well applications where the vertical distance between the pump and the water level is no more than 25 ft. If the water level is deeper than 25 ft., use a pump designed for deeper-well applications.
2. Does the pump automatically turn on and off?
Yes. A factory-installed pressure switch automatically controls the pump based on water-system pressure. When a faucet, sprinkler, or other water outlet is opened and system pressure drops to approximately 30 PSI (cut-in), the pump automatically starts. As water demand decreases and system pressure rises to approximately 50 PSI (cut-out), the pump automatically stops.
3. Does this pump require a pressure tank?
A pressure tank is recommended for normal automatic residential water-system operation. It stores pressurized water, helps reduce frequent pump cycling, and works with the 30/50 PSI pressure switch to provide automatic water pressure. The pressure tank is not included.
4. Is the pump 115 V or 230 V?

The motor supports both 115 V and 230 V, 60 Hz operation and is factory prewired for 115 V. Before connecting power, always verify that the voltage selector matches the available power supply. For 230 V operation, disconnect all power, remove the rear motor cover, move the voltage selector to the 230 V position, and reinstall the cover before applying power.
5. Does the pump come with a power plug?
No. The pump does not come with a power plug. The pump is designed for field electrical connection through the pressure switch. Power-supply conductors and grounding must be connected according to the wiring instructions above and applicable electrical codes.
6. Does the pump need to be primed before use?
Yes. Before initial startup, completely fill the pump housing and suction piping with water. Never run the pump dry. Dry running may cause overheating and damage the mechanical seal.
7. Can this pump be installed outdoors?
The pump should not be installed outdoors where it is directly exposed to weather. For outdoor installations, place the pump in a suitable pump house or protective enclosure and protect it from flooding, excessive moisture, and freezing conditions. Auxiliary heat may be required where freezing is possible.
8. What pipe sizes are required?
The pump has a 1-1/4 in. FNPT suction port and a 1 in. FNPT discharge port. Suction piping should be airtight, watertight, and properly sized to minimize restriction and prevent air from entering the system.
9. Can this pump be used for ponds, lakes, or cisterns?
Yes. The pump can be used for surface-water applications such as ponds, lakes, rivers, and cisterns, provided the suction lift is less than 25 ft. Install an appropriate inlet screen to help prevent debris, wildlife, or other objects from entering the suction pipe. Do not use untreated surface water for drinking.
10. Can this pump handle sewage or dirty water?
No. This pump is intended for clear water only. Do not use it for sewage, heavily contaminated water, flammable liquids, fuels, oils, or explosive liquids.
