Introduction
The USS-MBV Series Motorized Ball Valves are U.S. Solid's second-generation of motorized ball valves. They are highly energy-efficient, consuming power only during the opening and closing process, which typically takes 6-8 seconds. Unlike solenoid valves, which require continuous energy to maintain their position, motorized ball valves remain in place with low power once fully opened or closed, eliminating the risk of overheating. However, they are not suitable for applications requiring rapid opening and closing, where solenoid valves are typically preferred.
The 2-wire auto-return model is designed for fail-safe operation. It changes state when powered and returns to default on power loss, ensuring fail-safe operation.
Applications

Features
- Normally Open: Open when unpowered, closes when energized.
- Full Port: Maximum flow efficiency, zero restriction.
- Wide Voltage Range: Compatible with 9-36V AC/DC
- NPT Threading (3/4"): Standard tapered threading for U.S. piping, ensuring a secure seal with teflon tape.
- Brass Material: Contains lead; not suitable for drinking water applications.
- 2 Wire Auto Return: Automatically returns to default position upon power loss.
- 3 Status Indicators: Open, closed, and stuck.
- Close/Open Time: 6-8 Seconds

FAQ

Problem 1: What is the difference between N.C. (Normally Closed) and N.O. (Normally Open)?
- Normally Closed (NC): Valve remains closed when power is off, opening only when energized. Ideal for fail-safe closed applications.
- Normally Open (NO): Valve remains open when power is off, closing only when energized. Ideal for fail-safe open applications.
Problem 2: What is the difference between Full Port and Standard Port?
- Full Port: Matches pipe diameter, minimal flow restriction, ideal for high flow and low pressure drop.
- Standard Port: Smaller than pipe diameter, higher resistance, suitable for general flow and pressure needs.
Problem 3: Can this be used for Drinking Water?
NO. This motorized ball valve is made of brass, which contains lead, should not be used for drinking water.
Problem 4: For auto return valves, what is the minimum On-Time required for electrical storage to enable closing when power off?
To ensure automatic reset functionality when the power is disconnected, it is essential to power the device for approximately one minute to charge the capacitor in 2-wire auto return motorized ball valves.
Problem 5: Can this valve be used for propane?
Yes, our motorized ball valves are suitable for use with propane.
Problem 6: How to wire a 2-wire auto-return motorized ball valve?
- DC: Connect the red wire to the positive pole(+) and the black wire to the negative pole(-) to open the valve. Disconnecting either wire will close the valve.
- AC: Connect one wire to the positive pole(+) and the other to the negative pole(-) to open the valve. Disconnecting either wire will close the valve.
WIRING

Note: The product shown in the demonstration GIF may not match the actual product in this listing (e.g., differences in normally open (NO) or normally closed (NC) types). This is normal, and the GIF is intended to demonstrate the wiring method for a 2-wire auto return motorized ball valve.
Precautions
- For 2-wire reverse polarity and 3-wire models, the valve is de-energized when fully open or closed. Other models may use a negligible amount of power when fully open, and the 5-wire model uses energy when closed to keep indicator lights operational. Refer to the specifications sheet for detailed information.
- The valves in this sheet are not for manual operation. Attempting to do so may damage the valve or cause injury.
- Only Auto Return Models will return to the closed position in the event of a power outage. All other models will remain in their current position. If this is a concern, consider purchasing an Auto-Return Model.
- These valves are designed with power-limiting features, allowing them to be powered continuously without risk of overheating. However, always ensure proper installation and adherence to manufacturer guidelines to maintain safe operation.
